How would you describe your relationship with money?

Love it? Want more of it? Fear about not having it? Fear about losing what you have? Envy toward those who have more than you do?

MoneyThere is, perhaps, nothing that we have more internal baggage about than money. It is almost impossible to grow up in our society and not have an internal conflict¬†about the abundance that we want so much, yet our¬†limiting beliefs prevent us from obtaining it! Countless sources all around us have told us that “it doesn’t grow on trees”, that it is “the root of all evil”, or that “you can’t buy happiness”. We grew up surrounded by characters on TV and in movies, like Ebenezer Scrooge, who were rich, yet corrupt. We formed beliefs that a person can’t have riches and integrity. After all, what message does “filthy rich” send? We were told of the “haves” and “have-nots”, that a certain person is “born with a silver spoon in his mouth”, that some people are destined for wealth while others are destined to struggle to make ends meet. The examples go on and on.

Think about your own beliefs about money. Think about how you perceive people who are wealthy. Think about your own perception of your job and your income. Is it that you must toil just to provide the basics? “Another day, another dollar”?
